My Pet Journal App Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Royal Pet Box, LLC ("we," "us," "our") built My Pet Journal to be a local-first pet-record app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app touches, what stays on your device, what leaves it, and why. In short: your pet's records are stored on your iPhone. Nothing you type in is transmitted to us.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not run analytics, tracking pixels, ad networks, session recorders, or crash-reporting services inside the app. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or account information. The app has no accounts and no login. We do not scan or index your photo library, and we do not read your contacts or your calendar.

We do not sell, rent, or share your information, and we do not use any information the app touches for advertising or marketing.

3. Information Stored On Your Device

Every record you create in My Pet Journal — pet profiles, weights, vaccine dates, medication names, dosing schedules, refill counts, receipts and certificate photos, license and insurance details, sitter briefs, vet visits, activity logs, diary entries and videos, and similar — is stored on your device only, inside the app's private data container. Royal Pet Box, LLC has no access to it.

iOS includes this container in your regular iPhone backup (iCloud or local, whichever you use). Those backups are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy; we have no access to them. When you delete the app, all of this data is deleted with it.

4. Permissions the App May Request

The app asks for each of the following only when you first use the feature that needs it. You can grant or revoke any of them at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Camera — to photograph a receipt, certificate, or your pet. Photos taken this way are saved into the app's private container.

Photo library (read) — to let you choose existing photos to attach to a record. You select individual photos; the app does not browse, scan, or index your library. Location metadata (EXIF GPS) is removed from photos you import before they are saved.

Photo library (add) — optional. If you turn on the corresponding setting in Preferences, photos you take inside the app are also copied to your iOS Photos library so your memories live in one place. This is off unless you enable it.

Calendar (write only) — optional. Used only to add a pet appointment you explicitly choose to add. The app cannot read your calendar or see any existing events.

Notifications — to deliver the local reminders you schedule. Reminders are generated and delivered on your device; no reminder content is sent to us or to any server.

Motion & Fitness — optional. Used by the Start walk / Start play timers to exclude minutes when the iPhone detected no movement, so a timer left running does not overstate activity.

5. Apple Health

My Pet Journal does not use Apple Health. The app does not request access to, read, or write any Health data. Activity is recorded from what you log manually, from your iPhone's own motion sensor while a Start walk timer is running (see Motion & Fitness above), and from an activity collar you choose to connect.

6. Third-Party Trackers & Connectors

My Pet Journal can optionally connect to third-party pet-activity trackers such as the FitBark® smart collar. These connections are established only when you explicitly sign in with your tracker account under More → Trackers.

When you connect a tracker:

* You are redirected to the tracker provider's own sign-in page. We never see the credentials you enter there.

* After you authorize the connection, the tracker provider issues an OAuth access token that identifies your session. This token is stored in your device's Keychain (Apple's encrypted credential store) and is not synced to iCloud or shared across devices.

* To exchange the initial authorization code for a long-lived access token, the request is routed through a small server operated by Royal Pet Box, LLC that injects our provider-issued client secret before forwarding to the tracker provider. This server does not receive, store, or log your personally identifying data — only the transient authorization code, which expires within minutes and can only be used once.

* Once connected, the app fetches your pet's activity data directly from the tracker provider's servers using the stored access token. The tracker provider sees which activity endpoints you request and when. Royal Pet Box, LLC does not see or log those requests.

* Activity totals retrieved from a tracker are saved as records inside the app's private container on your device.

* You can disconnect the tracker at any time from More → Trackers. Disconnecting deletes the tokens from your device's Keychain. To revoke access on the tracker provider's side, use their own account settings.

Connectivity to any third-party tracker is not guaranteed and may be modified, paused, or discontinued at any time — sometimes without notice — due to changes on the tracker provider's side, changes to their APIs or terms, network issues, service outages, tracker hardware or firmware limitations, or Royal Pet Box, LLC's discretion. Third parties are independent of Royal Pet Box, LLC. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies; please review them separately.

7. Backups, Exports, and Sharing

The app can create a backup file containing a complete copy of your data, including photos, receipts, certificates, and diary videos. It can also export a readable data file, and can generate PDF reports, wallet cards, and sitter briefs.

These files are created on your device. Where they go next is entirely your choice — you may save them to the Files app or iCloud Drive, send them by email or message, print them, or share them with a sitter or veterinarian. Royal Pet Box, LLC never receives a copy and has no visibility into any of them.

Backup and export files are not encrypted by the app, and they contain the pet and owner information you entered. Once such a file leaves your device, its privacy depends on where you put it and who you send it to. Treat a backup like any other sensitive document.

8. External Links & Content Fetches

The app periodically fetches the Royal Pet Box® blog feed and occasional promotional messages from servers we operate. When it does, that server receives your device's IP address and standard HTTP request headers — the same information any browser sends when visiting a webpage. We do not track these requests or attach any identifier to them, and they contain nothing about your pets.

When you tap an external link inside the app — royalpetbox.com pages, the Royal Pet Box® shop, Petfinder, and similar — the destination site receives standard browser-style request metadata (IP address, user agent). Petfinder may use that IP address to approximate your region for its own listing-distance feature; you can override this by entering a ZIP code in the app. Once you leave the app, the destination site's own privacy policy applies.

Email updates. The app links out to a signup form hosted on royalpetbox.com. Your email address is never entered into or stored by the app itself; it is collected and processed by our website and email provider, and you can unsubscribe using the link in any message we send.

9. Purchases & Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not see or store payment information, and we never receive your Apple Account details.

Purchase status is verified on your device by Apple's StoreKit framework and cached locally so the app knows which features to unlock. No purchase information is sent to us.

10. Children's Privacy

My Pet Journal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing for us to delete on request; data a child may have entered lives on the device and can be removed by deleting the records or the app.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Privacy laws in some regions — including the California Consumer Privacy Act and the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation — give you rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to know whether it is sold or shared.

Because My Pet Journal does not collect, receive, or store your personal information, we hold no personal data to access, correct, delete, port, or sell. You already have direct and complete control: your records are on your device, editable and deletable at any time, and exportable at any time. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not process it for targeted advertising.

If you believe we hold information about you and want to exercise a right, contact us using Section 13.

12. Data Retention & Deletion

Because your pet records are stored on your device, retention and deletion are entirely under your control. Delete individual records from within the app at any time. Delete the app to remove everything, including any backups the app itself is holding.

Note that backup or export files you have already saved elsewhere — in Files, iCloud Drive, email, or on another device — are outside the app and are not removed when you delete it. Delete those yourself if you no longer want them.

For third-party tracker data, follow the disconnection steps in Section 6 to sever the connection on our side, and use the tracker provider's own account tools to delete data held on theirs.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features (such as additional third-party tracker integrations) or clarifications to existing practices. Material changes will be reflected in the app's in-app Terms & Disclaimers screen. The effective date at the top of this document shows the current version.
